Why does God give his children His Spiritual Armor?
Once you are born again God gives you spiritual armor, do you know why that is? Do you know why he gives this to you as a gift? This is what this bible study is all about.
God gives you (his child) His spiritual armor because…
1. You are facing, battling, wrestling, warring with a real enemy of which you cannot see.
The bible says this in Ephesians 6:12 (KJV):
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
The bible says the enemy is Satan the Devil (1 Peter 5:8-9) (Revelation 20:1-6). The bible says He is a real person who is the author of the fall of man and one who hates God and his children (Genesis 3). Satan attacks us constantly in various ways so our armor is given to us because it is defensive in nature to protect us from the fiery darts that the enemy throws at us. But we also have offensive spiritual weapons that God gives us. God wants us to know about our offensive spiritual weapons and understand them so we can use them proactively against the enemy.

2. He gives it to you to put it on.
You will be amazed at how many believers do not put on the spiritual armor that God gives them freely by His grace. The spiritual armor of God is freely available for every believer in Christ; however, you must be the one to put it on. You need to put it on because you are in warfare. Yes, you are in a spiritual war whether you know it or not. So, make sure in these last days that you put on your spiritual armor daily (Ephesians 6:10-18) (Galatians 3:27).
God gives you (his child) His spiritual armor because…
3. He gives it to you because it is supernaturally designed and equipped from Him to protect you (the child of God) from the enemy while you’re in battle.
You need to understand that you live in a warzone and that this is the enemy’s turf. This fallen world that we live in is a warzone and this is not our home. We have physical and unseen spiritual enemies all around us. However, our God is faithful, and He protects us. The bible says we are a peculiar people, the bible says we are pilgrims, aliens, and strangers passing through this world (1 Peter 2:11) (Titus 2:13-14). We are in the world, but we are not of the world (John 17:14-18). This is because we have been chosen out of the world and set apart by Jesus Himself (John 15:19) (1 Peter 2:9) (Galatians 2:20). This is not our home. Our citizenship is in Heaven in Christ Jesus (Hebrews 11:10,13 16) (Philippians 3:20).
God gives you (his child) His spiritual armor because…
4. He gives it to you because God is our ABBA Father who is our Protector and Defender.
God wants to protect us from going through unnecessary trials, wounds and sufferings from the enemy. The enemy shoots fiery darts at us children of God (Ephesians 6:16) so make sure you put on your spiritual armor daily. The bible also says that the enemy is the accuser of the brethren (Zechariah 3:1-2) (Revelation 12:10). God doesn’t want us to give any room for the enemy (2 Corinthians 2:11). So do not give the enemy a foothold into your life (Ephesians 5:11).
God gives you (his child) His spiritual armor because…
5. He gives it to us to fight in the Spirit.
There will be many times when God will fight our battles for us, but they’re also times when God wants us to fight in the Spirit with the spiritual armor, He has given us. This means God wants us to fight spiritually in prayer, coupled with walking by faith, following the leading of The Holy Spirit. Yes, God wants us to fight the enemy with the word of God which is the Sword of the Spirit. The Word of God which is our sword is our offensive weapon that God gives us to fight the enemy. You as a child of God are to use your sword (The word of God) against the enemy. Another one of our offensive spiritual weapons is praying in the Spirit.
God gives you (his child) His spiritual armor because…
6. He gives it to us because we need it to thrive in The Spirit as we go from glory to glory, move forward in Jesus’ Name, while we advance the kingdom of God in the earth pressing into the enemy’s territory.
He gives us spiritual armor because we are not battling nor fighting a physical enemy of flesh and blood. We are fighting a spiritual enemy in the spirit realm a realm that’s in a totally different dimension. This means our armor must be spiritual and supernatural from God himself in order to defeat and overcome this wicked enemy that’s in heavenly places (Ephesians 6:12). We need holy spiritual weapons and we cannot produce these much-needed weapons on our own.
God gives you (his child) His spiritual armor because…
7. He gives it to us to be victorious over the enemy.
Yes, through it all God always causes the child of God to triumph in Jesus’ Name. God always equips us to do whatever it is He is calling us to do. Since God knows we are in warfare He equips us with what we need in order to be victorious over our enemy and triumph over him in Jesus’ Name (1 John 4:4) (Revelation 12:11).
So, lets recap why God gives us His spiritual armor

Ephesians 6:10-18 (KJV) says this:
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
